Pop Kern: Fight! Bakersfield prepares for spring training at D-Bat
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Baseball is America’s pastime. From hot dogs to popcorn and beer, baseball is steeped in history. What better way to experience this history than here at D-Bat in Bakersfield?
With over 25,000 square feet, they consider themselves one of the best and best baseball and softball training facilities in Kern County.
You can rent tunnels, five of which have pitchers that launch baseballs and salt.
D-Bat is not just a baseball facility. It also has simulation machines that allow you to choose where you play, what type of ball you want to hit and what type of terrain you want to practice.
And what’s also really cool is that we’ll see dads come in with their kids and they’ll come out to use our pitchers and then two or three minutes later the dad will come back and say, do you have a bat that I can use because they see the child having fun and all of a sudden?
Students, college kids, regardless of age, want to prepare for college-level games.
“We have instructors specifically for softball. Our baseball and softball target audience starts at around age 6 and goes all the way up to Infinity,” said Pat Person, owner of D-Bat.
D-Bat also has instructors who focus on pitching.
