Opening of training camp on Wednesday

Moose Jaw Warriors hockey returns to the ice at the Moose Jaw Events Center this week.

The Warriors will host 68 players over five days for the team’s 2022 training camp, starting Wednesday.

There will be 20 returning players, joined by 48 draft picks, roster players and camp guests.

The camp will feature 21 Saskatchewan players, including four Moose Jaw products. There will be 22 players from Alberta, 14 from Manitoba, six from British Columbia and three from the United States.

Robert Baco and Martin Rysavy will return as players imported from the team to camp.

This year’s training camp will open with rookie camp practices and a scrimmage (4:30 p.m.) Thursday.

Rookie camp will conclude with two scrums (9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) on Friday, which will be followed by the first main camp scrimmage at 5:30 p.m.

Players will be back on the ice for two more scrums on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The main camp will conclude with the annual black and white intrasquad game on Sunday at noon. Admission to the game will be by donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
