New Scoreboard for Pitman Baseball

Pitman High School gets a new baseball scoreboard thanks to Pride Boosters. The Turlock Unified School Board has approved the district to go ahead and solicit bids for the project.

“The Pitman High Booster Club was successful in raising enough donations to purchase a $ 25,000 scoreboard for the varsity baseball field.” said Scott Richardson, Director of Maintenance and Operations at TUSD, “We are delighted and happy to be able to partner with them to launch this project. “

The project is estimated at $ 32,000 with a 10 percent contingency. The scope of work for this project will include all on-site work to receive and install the instrument panel, including structural and electrical components.

The dashboard is expected to ship in early January and should be ready for spring sports in February.

“I keep my fingers crossed that all of our gear arrives on time with all the delays we’ve seen recently; but we’re still excited about it all, ”said Richardson.

The dashboard is designed by Daktronics and is expected to be 13 feet high and 20 feet wide. The top of the proposed design will have an arch that reads Pitman Pride in white letters with a green P in the middle.

The scoreboard itself is green and includes the number of throws for both teams, balls, grabs and outs. It also includes home and away scores as well as nine innings. Finally, the scoreboards show the number of hits, runs and errors for each team. Some sponsors will also be included – Little Caesars, Jimmy Johns and Crumbl Cookie will have signs at the bottom of the board.

Board chair Lori Carlson said she was excited about the Turlock Schools upgrades.

“It’s very exciting, we also did the water polo scoreboard with the Pitman Boosters. I’ve never been to a newer school with all of these amenities so it’s really exciting to see the support from the community, ”she said.

Pitman High Baseball finished last and third with a 12-4 record in the Central California Conference Athletic League. They were led by Evan Fanconi who had a 5-0 with 3.74 ERA, and Dillan Fuller who had a 0.395 BA with 20 RBIs. The Prides start the 2021-2022 season in February.
