MIDWEST LEAGUE BASEBALL: Low order boosts Bandits | Professional Baseball
BELOIT, Wis. –The bottom of the batting order went down in a big way for the Quad Cities River Bandits on Tuesday night at ABC Supply Stadium.
8 and 9 hitters Dillan Shrum and Parker Bates each had two runs to lead the River Bandits to a 7-3 Midwest League Class A victory over host Beloit Sky Carp.
Bates hit two solo home runs and Shrum fired a two-run shot in the fourth that gave QC a 3-0 lead. QC then added two more in fifth for all the runs they needed before adding single runs in eighth and ninth.
Bates had the biggest night of his No. 9 hole in order. The QC center fielder was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Shrum was 1 for 3 with both runs covered.
Herard Gonzalez had the ninth for QC, his ninth of the season.
Behind three hits from point guard Tyler Tolbert (who stole two more bases to bring his season total to 58 and was also picked once) and two more from Gonzalez, QC, beat Beloit 12-8 in the opening of this week’s six -play set.

Adrian Alcantera (7-5) was the winning pitcher for the River Bandits (49-72). He allowed six hits and three earned runs in six innings of work. Delvin Capellan struck out three in his two scoreless relief innings and Anderson Paulino fumbled two hits in the ninth for a scoreless frame to close out the win Paulino struck out two of Beloit’s five batters (59-61) which he faced.
