The playoffs continue for Bucknell’s women’s basketball team. The Bison edged Lehigh in a thriller, 56-53, in the Patriot League quarterfinals Monday night to advance to the semifinals against Navy Thursday at 6 p.m. at Bucknell.

The other Patriot League semi-final features Boston versus American.

Isabella King scored 19 points to power Bucknell. Cecelia Collins and Carly Krsul each scored 10, and Taylor O’Brien added nine.

Lehigh was led by Emma Grothaus, who had a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Frannie Hottinger scored 11 points for Lehigh.

• In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Penn College baseball team shared a doubleheader against Bridgewater State and Manhattanville. The Wildcats fell to Bridgewater, 13-10, before beating Manhattanville, 17-16.

Bridgewater took an 11-3 lead in five innings.

Nathan Gustkey went 4 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jacob Carles hit a home run and a double, and Tyler Rudolph and Cameron Dick each hit a double for the Wildcats.

Penn College had 13 hits against Bridgewater State.

Against Manhattanville, Conner Burke’s double in the ninth sealed the victory for the Wildcats.

Penn College baseball coach Chris Howard hit a big milestone Sunday by recording his 300th and 301st career wins with the Wildcats after Penn College swept Hilbert, 9-7, 8-7.

This is Howard’s 14th season with the Wildcats. He produced ten 20-win seasons and three conference championships.

• Laurel McHale had three goals and two assists, and Emma Cashwell also had a hat trick, but Bucknell’s women’s lacrosse team saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 16-11 loss to Campbell .

Sam Bischoff and Joslin Hanbury scored three times each, and Ally Heath had a goal and three assists to lead the Fighting Camels, who went 3-2 high this season.

Campbell made good use of a few spot points and led the game for the final 41 minutes. The game was tied at 2-2 after one quarter, but with the pouring rain and gusting winds, the Fighting Camels scored the first four goals of the second quarter to build a 6-2 lead.

A pair of standout efforts on goal helped sophomore Zoe Stauffer earn her first MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week award.

The Lititz native recorded 22 saves in a loss to Muhlenberg, the most for a Warrior goaltender since 2009 and tied for ninth most in program history. She followed that up by making 11 saves in a 17-5 win over Mount Aloysius, the team’s first win of the year.

Stauffer is the first Warrior to win a weekly conference award since Hailey Kimble was named MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week on March 16, 2020. She is the first Defensive Player of the Week since Erica Spero won MAC honors. Commonwealth on May 2, 2016.
