Houston Farmers Market hires new rental team

MLB Capital Partners has engaged NewQuest Properties to manage the leasing of its Houston Farmers Market redevelopment in the Heights area.

Houston-based MLB Capital, a private investment firm led by Todd Mason, Jeff Lindenberger and Fred Baca, bought the historic farmers’ market in 2017 and completed a redevelopment with new outdoor pavilions, upgraded vendor areas updated, catering spaces, a one-acre event lawn and parking lot last year. The market has existed since 1942.

John Nguyen, Vice President, and Nick Ramsey, Senior Partner, will lease the 167,000 square foot project at 2520 Airline Drive. The market has approximately 46,000 square feet of available space in six buildings, including vendor stalls, small boutiques, and culinary spaces.

“Our strong relationships in restaurants and food and beverage operators will help us realize the owner’s vision of a world-class destination showcasing the best that Texas has to offer in culinary, agricultural and creative products” , Nguyen said in a statement.

Previously, MLB Capital managed its own leasing. James Beard award-winning local chef Chris Shepherd recently opened Underbelly Burgers. Shepherd’s Wild Oats restaurant is set to open in February. Crawfish & Noodles, a Viet-Cajun crawfish restaurant, has also signed up for space. Other tenants include RC Ranch Texas Craft Meats and over 50 produce and specialty vendors.
