Four local players take part in the chefs’ training camp

Spokane, Wash. – This week’s training camp will feature four Inland Northwest players: Landen Hindman (’06), Dante Hughes (’05), Andrew Leung (’06) and Mason Lochten (’05) .

Hindmen, a 6-foot-2 defenseman from Whitefish, Montana, spent the 2021-22 season with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes 15U AAA (T1EHL) and had four points on four assists in 21 games played. Prior to that, Hindmen played eight games (3G-7A) with the Notre Dame Hounds U15 Prep team in 2020-21.


Hughes, a 5-foot-11 forward from Post Falls, Idaho, is the younger brother of former Chiefs captain Bear Hughes and also attended training camp with the Chiefs last summer.

Leung, a 5-foot-10 defenseman from Seattle, Washington, spent the 2021-22 season with Northstar Christian Academy 16U AAA (NAPHL). He had 37 points (16G-21A) in 85 games and added two assists in five playoff games. Prior to that, the defender played five games (1G-2A) with Rink Hockey Academy K U15 Prep Squad in the 2020-21 season.

Lochten, a 5-foot-10 forward from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, played five games for the CDA Hockey Academy’s 18U club last season and had four points on two goals and two assists. Lochten closed out the 2021-22 season with the 16U AA team, where he added nine points (3G-6A) in four games. He also played 26 games with the 16U AA team the previous season, amassing 38 points (17G-21A) in 26 games.

The main local players to have attended the Chiefs camp and gone on to professional careers are Derek Ryan, Tyler Johnson, Keanu Yamamoto, Kailer Yamamoto and Bear Hughes.
