Jimenez is not looking for excuses. He states a fact. The White Sox feature arguably the most all-encompassing talent in the AL Central. But they trailed the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins for most of the season.
Co-aces Lucas Giolito and Lance Lynn both struggled with injuries throughout the first part of the year. As a result, they struggled to find their groove. The offense also suffered its share of injuries. Eloy Jimenez has struggled with various ailments over the past two years.
Nevertheless, Chicago is still in the division race. They decided not to sell before the MLB trade deadline because they felt like they could win the division.
