Arkansas baseball team’s SEC series winning streak ended in Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Razorbacks lost an SEC series for the first time since 2019.
2 Arkansas (23-7, 8-4 SEC) saw his 13th straight winning streak end in a 9-7 loss to Florida (22-11, 6-7 SEC) on Saturday after- noon at Florida Ballpark.
The Hogs fell behind early after the Gators opened up a four-point lead late in the third. Arkansas, however, fought back in the first half of the fourth and tied the game, courtesy of Jalen Battles’ RBI single and Zack Gregory’s brace.
Florida regained the lead with three runs in the fifth, but Arkansas refused to back down. The Razorbacks scratched two runs in the sixth, scoring on an error and a goal-laden walk, before Gregory equalized it again in the top of the eighth.
Gregory’s second hit of the day was a towering right-hand home run, evening the game at seven apiece with his fourth home run of the year. He finished the afternoon with a career-high four RBIs, reaching base in all four of his plate appearances in the effort.
The Gators had even more offense in the tank, regaining a lead for the third time in the baseball game with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Hogs went down the order in the ninth to seal their loss.
Arkansas will turn the page quickly and prepare for five games in five days this week at Baum-Walker Stadium, starting with a two-game midweek series against UAPB. The first pitch is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on SEC Network+.
